The arrival of the first month of the year brings with it the Three Wise Men’s Day, one of the most celebrated Christian traditions in Latin American and Spanish-speaking countries. Every January 6th, millions of families gather to enjoy a delight that is the clear winner, or rather, king, in the world of sweet bread: the Rosca de Reyes. On this occasion, we explain everything you need to know about the Rosca de Reyes.
The Rosca de Reyes is a sweet bread popularly consumed at the end of the Christmas season, and its tradition comes from the Christian celebration of the Epiphany, better known as the arrival of the Three Wise Men to visit the newly born baby Jesus. But why a ring-shaped bread? Its circular shape commemorates eternity, and its central hole refers to the crowns of the kings. Its delicious decorations may vary by location, but traditionally, it consists of a mixture of sugar, candied fruits, and nuts.
Currently, there are various ways to prepare this delicious bread, from creative rosca versions made with ice cream and chocolate chips to savory ones with cheese and ham. At Señor Frog’s, we invite you to be part of this tradition with friends and family with our fun and delicious version, filled with chocolate ganache, topped with sugar and vanilla, quince paste, pear and apple, swarmed with puffed rice, covered with dark chocolate, Turin® chocolate bunnies and Minuit, and golden chocolate pearls. Every bite is an explosion of flavors you won’t want to miss.
We look forward to welcoming you at Señor Frog’s, the best Mexican restaurant, to enjoy this tradition amongst friends and family, available until January 8th.
